Family Photoshoots
Since becoming a mum it’s made me treasure family photos even more. The problem with being a mum and a photographer is I have loads of lovely photos of my son with other people but generally only selfies with me.
I find it hard to get in front of the camera, it’s much easier to hide but I want photos with him so much that I book regular shoots. My favourite photos are the most relaxed and fun, not much posing involved and so these are also the type of photos I take.
I understand photoshoots are daunting and everyone wants to lose those extra few pounds but honestly your kids won’t care when they’re grown up and looking back. I’ve worked with the most self conscious people, helped them to relax and shot them in a flattering way so they adore their photos and want to come back for more!

mini Photoshoots
What are Mini Photo Shoots? I hear you ask… Mini Sessions are a shorter version of the photo shoot packages I already offer.
My West Midlands based family sessions last around an hour and my Mini Sessions 30 minutes. It might not seem like long but it’s plenty of time to capture plenty of beautiful and funny moments before the kids get bored.
I don’t just photograph in The West Midlands, I also choose special locations like The Confetti Fields in Pershore or Cotswold Lavender Farm.
I release dates on my Capture Photography Facebook Page so pop over and like my page to stay up to date. I organise Mini shoots when flowers are in bloom, when the leaves turn in Autumn and in Winter, just in time to for some family photos to print out for the grandparents at Christmas!

newborn
/ baby shoots
I’m based in The Midlands in Birmingham and my lifestyle shoots take place in the comfort of your own home as it can be difficult for you to get out after you’ve had your little one.
I love spending time with new mums, my newborn shoots normally take place within a couple of weeks of the baby being born and they’re so tiny! Recording those early days is so important and within a few months they change so much. I set aside 2 hours for newborn shoots to allow for feeding and changing breaks.
You will need to provide your own outfits, special soft toys and blankets. This makes the photo shoot personal to you.

- The photo shoot lasts 2-3 hours to allow time for feeding and changing
- The shoots take place at your house
- Includes ALL edited digital photos uploaded to an online gallery. 50+

don’t worry about trying to get your little ones to keep still, you don’t have to! I’ll run around after them to get all the shots I need.
It’s very rare that kids co-operate and I’m completely used to it. Also if they’re shy I’ll hang back, maybe use a long lens until they feel a little more comfortable. Their nerves shouldn’t prevent you from getting the pics you’ll treasure. I’ve lost count of the amount of people who tell me I won’t be able to get a good shot of their toddler and then they love the photos.
Printing
So you’ve faced your nerves and had your shoot, now don’t hide the images away. The options I have for prints, wall art and photobooks are so beautiful. Show them off and get them on your walls!
Pets
I totally get that some people have fur babies instead of kids (or as well as) and I’m happy for them to be included in my photoshoots as long as the location allows it.

WE’RE SELF CONCIOUS, WILL YOU GET ANY GOOD PHOTOS?
It’s rare that my families feel comfortable in front of the camera, that’s why a big part of my job is to put you at ease. I’ll guide you as much as you need. It’s also the beauty of candid, relaxed photos. You just need to concentrate on having the best time and I’ll do the rest.
DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?
My sessions are all on location in the countryside, local park or at your house. I have ideas depending on the area or you’re welcome to suggest somewhere you love.
Newborn and cake smash sessions take place in your home where you’re most comfortable.
OUR SHOOT LOCATION ISN’T IN BIRMINGHAM, IS THAT OK?
Yes absolutely, I will just add 45p/mile for travel. (The first 5 miles are included)
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO WE NEED TO BOOK?
If you have your heart set on a specific date I’d recommend enquiring as soon as possible as certain parts of the year can get very busy, especially the summer.
CAN YOU HOLD A DATE OR TIME SLOT FOR US?
Unfortunately not so whoever puts down the booking fee first gets booked in.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
The shoots can continue if there are only light showers but of course if it’s torrential we can reschedule. Families with small babies, don’t worry, I won’t insist on you bringing your newborn out in the rain but people with older kids, photos with umbrellas and puddles can be so fun.
OUR LITTLE ONE IS VERY SHY IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA, IS IT WORTH BOOKING A SHOOT?
Yes absolutely. It may work better for you to book a 60 minute photoshoot as that will give them time to get used to me being around. I’m experienced working with children and I won’t get in their personal space, I can hang back and use a long lens if needed. My shoots are based around families having fun together and interacting as they normally would so I don’t just attempt to get everyone to look at the camera and smile for 60 minutes. If you’d prefer a MINI shoot that’s not a problem either. I have techniques I can use with shy kids and so far I’ve never failed to get lovely photos… touch wood!
CAN WE BRING OUR DOG(S)?
Yeah sure, I enjoy a challenge and chasing dogs around to get a good photo keeps me fit! Please double check with me when choosing a location though as some don’t allow dogs. Eg. The Confetti Flower Fields.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU’RE ILL?
Hopefully this will never be an issue but I would give you as much notice as possible and rearrange your session for a date that works for you.
WE CHOOSE YOU TO CAPTURE OUR FAMILY PHOTOS, HOW DO WE BOOK?
Drop me an email with the details of the type of shoot you’d like and any dates you’re considering. Then I’ll send over your contract for you to fill in. When you’ve read through it and you’re happy, I’ll need your booking fee to secure your session. (Booking fee varies depending on the type of shoot)
WHEN WILL WE GET OUR PHOTOS?
I’ll send over your gallery within 4 weeks (hopefully less in off peak times) I’ll work my magic getting rid of the blinking people, repeated images and extra chins. You can then favourite and download the images included in your package. Additional digital images will be available to buy as well as wall art, photo books and prints.
DO YOU DO ALBUMS?
I do yes! It’s so lovely seeing your photos in print and holding an album in your hands. Choose from Layflat and Luxury albums with gorgeous thick pages, a choice of covers and colours.
WILL YOU SHARE OUR PHOTOS?
I do like to share my work but only if you’re happy for me to do so. You can choose when filling out your contract.
WHAT IS A PRINT RELEASE?
Basically this means you can print and share your images as much as you want to but you can’t edit them or use them for marketing without my permission as I retain the copyright.
